Beacon of Hope Uganda through our Xtend Your Helping Hand project collects, packs and donates used children’s clothing, toys, purses, shoes and household items to help orphans and vulnerable children across the country. Xtend Your Helping Hand Project was initiated in 2009 and its mission has been to provide toys, books, clothing and other items to orphans and vulnerable children and their families.
Building Homes for OVCS
The first step in helping orphans and vulnerable children who live on the streets is to give them a safe place to call home. Beacon of Hope Uganda started the Homes of Hope Project to cater for this need.
Homes of Hope project homes are small that house four to eight children. Children placed in these homes are loved and nurtured by a house mama. Placement at an orphan home allows children to avoid the overcrowded environments of large orphanages where it is difficult for children to receive the nurture and care needed to ensure a healthy well-being.
In order to keep children safe and free from the worries of abduction, security walls are built around the homes.
Xtend Your Helping Hand Project
With the help of local volunteers who helps us collecting and packing items in their neighborhoods, we take these items to rural Eastern Uganda and Northern Uganda districts, benefiting countless children in extreme poverty.
Beacon of Hope Uganda accepts gently used clothing, shoes, bedding, toys, kitchenware, books and accessories in good condition and donations are welcome all year long.
The items we donate, benefits victims of natural disasters and victims of extreme poverty. Your generous donations of clothing and other household goods make a big difference in the lives of needy kids around the country.
Beacon of Hope Uganda is planning to setup donation drop-off sites or collection centers around Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono and Jinja. If you’re donating a ton of stuff and don’t have a car to transport everything, BoHU may be able to help you out. Simply call us and ask if pickup service is available in your area.
