BoHU Announces 40 Bursaries To Needy Students In High School And Vocational Training!

“Beacon of Hope Uganda has set aside 40 bursaries for the most needy and vulnerable school children who will be joining high school and vocational skills training institutions”- BoHU Executive Director- Sandra Nakagiri announces.

BoHU officers and a credible team of community leaders, teachers, and social workers will be put in place to identify unfortunate children, who need support and to ensure the bursaries benefits only the deserving children.

“Beacon of Hope Uganda believes that education is extremely important to improve the lives of orphans and children in need, this is the reason behind the establishment of BoHU Education Fund, a bursary scheme for orphans and vulnerable children” – confirmed the E.D

Ms. Nakagiri announced that the 40 bursaries will be an addition to the already existing 360 bursaries benefiting needy children in primary, secondary and vocational institutions.

The Executive Director observed that as a student (BBA student at Uganda Christian University- Mukono), she would hate to see any student dropping out due to lack of school fees.

When BoHUMeDIA visited her office, before she left for the Young Leaders’ conference in Mombasa, Kenya, she was beamed with a smile while analyzing the results of P.L.E students sponsored by Beacon of Hope Uganda.

The BoHU head was impressed by the excellent performance of the BoHU funded students in the last year’s (2017) Primary Leaving Examinations. “Our students are all winners, regardless of the results, in education we don’t have losers and winners,” she said.

Ms. Nakagiri also said her administration would invest heavily in the Early Childhood Development Education adding that plans were underway to improve on the facilities at Hope Children’s’ Academy schools.

The BoHU Education Fund has provided education support to over 800 needy and vulnerable children since 2008 in the poverty-stricken districts of Uganda. The purpose and objective of this program is to provide education, healthcare, social services, and basic necessities to orphans and vulnerable children.

An orphan’s life can be given new direction for as little as $ 100 a year or $300 to help with a start-up kit. The sponsors’ money goes towards purchasing school supplies, books, school uniforms, clothing, medicine, feeding, education and housing for the child who is homeless.

BoHU’s financial support comes from individuals and corporations that either sponsor a particular child or provide regular funds for general education fund as we expand in order for BoHU to provide care for more and more desperate children.

Education plays the central role in escaping generational poverty. It’s been estimated that for every year a child stays in school, their future earning potential increases by 10-20 percent. Unfortunately, many families in poverty consider education a luxury and even those who value it can find it difficult to afford.
